those are your sunday morning headlines. this morning british police are looking interest a brand-new shocking claim that princess dine aana was murdered by a mem of the british miller. live in london with the bombshell details making the first page of the "new york post" this morning. >> reporter: yes, it's incredible to think in just a couple weeks time it will be 16 years since princess diana was killed in that car crash in the underpass in the center of paris. there are those who over the years have refused to believe the official version of events. they have instead believed some of the conspiracy theories doing around that diana, princess of wales, was murdered by the british government, by either the security services or the military. there have been numerous investigations here in the uk over the years that have found
3:05 am
nothing to substantiate those allegations. now detectives at scotland yard have confirmed they have received new allegations. these allegations come in the form of a letter which was passed to scotland yard by the royal miller police. that letter was purportedly from the former parents in law of a former british soldier and it claims the british military were involved in diana's death. >> can you give us some sense of how seriously this allegation is being taken, and is there any evidence it is true? from our perspective, it seems farfetched. >> yes, i think from scotland yarded point of view they feel they are duty bound to investigate any allegations that might have some credibility given, of course, who the

subject matter in terms of the investigation concerns. that is, of course, the late princess diana. so from that perspective, they are taking it seriously. there are specialist operations command, some of the most senior detectives will spend probably the next few weeks examining really whether there is any veracity to the decision and make a decision whether it's worth a full investigation. you're right to certainly point out there have been a number of claims and conspiracy theories over the years. this one at least, because it's come from military channels, the world military police and from the family it seems of the military servicemen or former military servicemen, scotland yards feels they need to give some attention to it.

3:08 am
we will see rain around the mid-atlantic and a little rain across long island and a sprinkle or two around d.c. and in towards new york city. out across the west you look very, very good. a little more monsoon action. the next couple of days may be picking up a little more. that's good news to get a little more moisture out of the season if we can. slgts severe weather possible across the northern plains, temps warm, 92, 93 in denver. east coast, 79 caribou, 73 new york, 77 in atlanta. yes, it is still mid august, guys. >> thank you, rick. >> thank you very much. remember when the president, president obama, claimed during his first campaign he would bring a new tone to washington? he would work with congress, bridge the partisan divide? that was not the tone yesterday during the president's weekly address primarily about obama care. listen to this. >> we're actually having a debate between hurting americans who will no longer be denied
3:09 am
affordable health care just because they have been sick and harping the economy and millions of americans in the process. many republicans are more concerned about how bad this debate will hurt them politically than they are with how badly it will hurt the country. >> he is accusing republicans of going out and attacking his administration and trying to scare the american people into exactly what sort of benefits they may or may not get under obama care. he's saying they will shut down the government, harm the country and sticking it to the american people. that's what president obama said yesterday. >> so is that what republicans are doing or warning people may not have control over health care decisions, premiums may be skyrocketing or are republicans saying this is not all roses and rainbows here. representative michael grim from new york has this to say about the president dividing the nation. >> leadership is about leading.
3:10 am
the president hasn't led. of course the congress is polarized and not much getting done. he works closely with the senate to block whatever we do in the house. he's a big part of the problem instead of the solution. what a real leader does regardless of partisanship, i know difficult task because the nation is polarized. recognizing leadership rising above that. leadership bring the two groups together and tries to get something done. >> imagine, though, the demagoguery of saying my opponents don't just disagree with me, don't just have a different vision for the country, they are seeking actively to hurt sick people and tank our economy. first of all, you'd have to be an idiot to believe that and really have to be shameless to say something like that. that's about as hoe as i've seen it. then the president went on to say health care is a right. really? if health care is a right, where does it come from? the bible. koran? where does that right emanate.
3:11 am
>> really? >> it's absurd and it's not in the constitution. furthermore what republicans are actually doing is having a debate internally right now whether or not they want to risk shutting down the government to defund obama care and a lot of that is weighed on a poll that came out that shows two-thirds want obama care defunded and ended. this is not these republicans are out there willy-nilly trying to do something, they are listening to constituents, on break right now. hearing from them, one of their top priorities, obama care. they are scared. >> they don't understand it. people don't know exactly what's in it. we heard that from the very beginning. have you to pass the bill to find out what's in it. the administration is spending $67 million, your money, folks, your taxpayer dollars, so americans can go shopping for obama care and make sense of what is really being criticized

battle continues in san antonio, texas, amid a firestorm, appears lawmakers may be closer to passing an ordinance that would block business owners from holding contracts with the city if they disapprove of homosexuality based on their religious beliefs. that would include christians who believe marriage ought to be

defined as between a man and woman. the civil rights division, mr. branson, thanks for joining us this morning. as i understand it this ordinance would punish people for religious beliefs and make it impossible to hold city contracts. is that true? >> it's sure looking that way. friday the mayor almost brought to the front what we're concerned about. there was an ambush of a councilwoman chan while she was on vacation on this very issue trying to destroy her character. we don't do business like they do in chicago here in san antonio. i was stunned whenever they came out and made the attack against her. second thing is, we don't even treat ladies that way here in san antonio. i was surprised how the mayor and councilman jumped on her so fast. so our concerns have been validated by what took place on friday. it really has us concerned. that's one of the reasons i was glad to come back on today and talk about this. >> just to be clear, doesn't seem like this is so much a gay

with her, most i agree with her. you have a right to express your opinion. down in texas we treat each other with respect. you respect the colleagues on the council would treat each other with respect. they did not do that. >> we're supposed to be tolerant of one another's differences. like that's the idea behind diversity, no? how do we get to the point there's no tolerance shown for people who disagree. >> that's the way it's turning out to be, the very thing i'm afraid of but that's what they owe to us. they ought to pull the ordinance because it's poorly written. a simple solution. if they had done this at the start, we woopt have problems, put a commission together, like we do in san antonio, of good men and women on both sides of the issue. we're not looking to cause trouble for anyone. what we're concerned about is what will happen to believers and others who hold views similar to ours.

4:45 am
trying to raise awareness. author steven mansfield. answer that question, is this group simply trying to raise awareness? >> i think they are trying to raise awareness. they are seriously bigoted or insensitive or amateurs. it's been pretty much a disaster from the beginning. largely muslim event on 9/11, don't have their permission, changed the name. i think they had to know this was going to enrage a lot of american non-muslims. that's what it's done. message drowned out by outrage. >> the irony is there is no better country in the world for muslims than the united states. it's utterly tolerant. if you opened up gates for egypt, pakistan, everyone would come here, they know they could live peacefully. what are their concerns? >> they have concerns. 9/11 happened to muslims as
4:46 am
well. they have privacy concerns the rest of us do. again, they have made allegations. they made themselves the primary victims of 9/11, not true. as recently as this morning on the webs, part of the problems, attitudes have kept them from dawa, christian word for evangelizin evangelizing. >> a look at the website for how many members signed to be part of this. i think we counted 10. this is a million muslim march. do you want they are going to reach their goal? >> they are only 2.5 million muslims in america. the likelihood they were going to get half of that is silly. they have changed the name and broadened this appeal and made it more about the kind of things maybe even tea party folks and libertarians would care about but i don't think they will come close to half of a million. it's just -- they way overshot
4:47 am
and it's been badly handled. >> some of these groups embraced the ugliest conspiracy theories, jews or israel was somehow behind 9/11 attacks, grand conspiracy, et cetera, et cetera. how prevalent are those views in the united states. >> very prevalent. you certainly have muslims with moderate to pro attitudes towards israel. as we know lurking behind the scenes at muslim communities anti-zionism, judaism, that's there. you can even see some of it on the website. this is part of what has diminished a few of the points they want to make that i think are valid and we do need to hear. it's unfortunate, muslim american servicemen, policeman, ambulance drivers, folks we honor deserve a better event. >> you make the point they have extended an invitation to lewis

hey, hey, happy sunday. bad news though for some facebook users. even though you like it, it may be making you unhappy. that's according to scientists at the university of michigan. the more time you log on to the social network, the worse you feel. >> what is making people cranky? he is a member of the fox news medical a team. the man with the answers. doctor, is this like crack cocaine? you do it even though it hurts you. >> every drug you know that coming down off of it is not a good experience. that's why people use it again and again. this is a drug. it's like any other drug and after you use it, there's a period of high while you're using it. afterwards, i think, it settles in. listen, this was an empathy experience. these aren't my real friends. i just broadcast this nonsense
4:54 am
and i don't feel good about doing that. >> people use it because it's the only thing we have right now. it's the super highway to stay connected with your relatives. something better comes along they'll leave it. we saw it with myspace. people get tired of facebook they'll run to something else. >> another way of disconnect with their relatives. this doesn't connect you with anybody. if you can do something as simple as post a photo or make a comment with a few key strokes. that isn't a real relationship. you gone to no effort to be in touch with that person or looking at them and sensing how they feel. this is disconnection. >> is it just about being disconnected or at looking at pictures that might hurt you. if you look at pictures of a guy you used to date and see him with another girl it might hurt you or your brother is getting more favoritism from mom and dad. there's scenarios hurting people. >> other people are losing weight and you're not. we have heard these stories. >> it's certainly the case that people worry about what they're
4:55 am
putting up. i had young people tell me i don't want to worry about how many likes what i got generated. what i put up generated but i can't not worry about it so they feel in some ways captive to this. there's another study out by the way that shows that your real life friendships suffer to the extent that you're posting photos on facebook. why? because you can't control what other people are thinking about you. if you're doing it a lot, a lot of people are thinking she is so self-involved. even though they are doing it. they're saying she has no life. she is using facebook all the time. even when they're the ones doing it. when one crack addict said he is really bad. >> i'm using it. >> you're a secret facebooker. >> i'm a public facebooker. that's what i'm hear to say. if i told you about a drug where a doctor said this is going to be an epidemic. by the way i'm on facebook you would say this is bad.
4:56 am
that's how bad it is. >> you know what the difference is, it's free. crack is not free and neither is pot or alcohol or food or anything else. facebook is free. that's probably another reason why we're hooked on it. >> we're getting high. the government is about to make marijuana free through your health insurer. people will feel like it's free. every state that legalizes marijuana. you get people coming in and saying i got back pain. medicaid will take care of that, right? right? yes they will. unfortunately our population is deciding to get high through facebook, through medical marijuana, through entertainment like reality tv that takes them nowhere toward reality. >> all right. so the morale of the story is get off of facebook and go from lunch with a friend. >> yeah. rite a note. put that in the mail and lick the stamp. >> wow, handwriting. wouldn't that be nice to get one in the mail? >> you'd say wow.
4:57 am
>> thank you. >> yeah, i will. >> we have a fox news alert for you. an american al qaeda militant calling for more attacks on the united states and it's diplomats. the late breaking details at the top of the hour. plus in the wake of the new nsa bombshell is the president ignoring transparency? more when we come back. ching! i like the fact that there's lots of different tastes going on. mmmm! breakfast i'm very impressed. this is a great cereal! honey bunches of oats. i hear you crunching.

targeting of christian churches in egypt. 40 churches have been looted and torched since wednesday. and also developing this morning, british police are looking into a brand new shocking claim that princess diana was murdered by a member of the british military. the bombshell allegation reportedly passed on to police by a family member of a soldier -- of a former soldier rather. the newly revealed conspiracy claims surfacing 16 years after her fatal car crash in paris. incredible pictures out of idaho where a massive wildfire is intensifying by the day. so far, at least 2300 people have been forced from their homes as hundreds of firefighters are busy trying to put out the flames. just yesterday five additional hot shot crews arrived to help. the fire is being fuelled by strong winds. it was started by lightning earlier this month. the fire only 6% contained. one of the worst ones we're told of the season. >> let's check in with rick now
5:04 am
who can maybe give us insight on what firefighters have to battle out there. >> yeah, they have incredible heat. it's a long-term drought going on across a lot of the west. that means that everything is dried up. all of the timber and the actuals on the ground are incredibly dry and then you factor in the fact that it's been incredibly hot. no rain headed toward that area either which isn't good. we do have rain this morning across parts of the mid-atlantic. debbie sent this picture to me from ocean city, maryland. i hear that is a spectacular place. rainy this morning. 69 degrees and a cool one headed out to ocean city for your august vacation and today getting to 72 degrees. that's not what you want when you go into the beach across the coast in the mid-atlantic. keep sending me your pictures on twitter or my facebook page. it's a really heavy rain this morning from around new orleans just to the east of new orleans over toward pensacola and that
5:05 am
is causing significant flooding once again. some of the rainmaking it's way to the mid-atlantic. won't be a horrible wash out. to the west you some of the rain across parts of the southwest and no legitimate rain where the fires are. here you go. the fire to the east of boise. getting today to 96 degrees. it will be a little bit breezy but overall weather not a major factor for the fire. it's just continuing to be so dry. real quick, i want to show you chicago -- chicago barely had a summer for at least the last three to four weeks. it's been abnormally cool. we're about to see a warming trend. your average is 82 degrees. if you're thinking you want a little more summer, we've got it coming. temperatures above average tomorrow and pushing 90 degrees by wednesday. thank you, rick. so much for working with with congress, you may recall five years ago when the president was running for president he promised -- he pledged his sacred honor to bring this country together to bridge the partisan divide and to speak as
5:06 am
an adult to americans and not patronize them. >> let's see if that's what the president did yesterday in his saturday weekly radio address when he basically said that republicans are aiming to hurt americans. listen. they're actually having a debate between hurting american who is will no longer be denied affordable healthcare because they have been sick and harming the economy and millions of americans in the process. in the united states of america, health insurance isn't a privilege. it's your right. and we're going to keep it that way. >> that's the debate republicans are having. should we kill sick people or destroy the u.s. economy. the president is described as brilliant or deep thinker, that's not how smart people talk. that's how people have no respect for your audience talk. the idea that your opponents aren't wrong, they're evil. >> this is their talking point. this must be internal polling they're seeing is working. they started rolling out this line a bit on the campaign trail
5:07 am
by saying that republicans want to stop you from being healthy. they want to stop you from getting healthcare and maybe they're seeing some internal polling saying that's working. go with that mr. president. in the republican party what is happening is they're having an internal debate on whether or not they should push forward with defunding obamacare which may lead to a closing down of the government come the fall. >> what republicans are concerned about letting the public know because there are thousands of pages in the so-called affordable care act that they want americans to know that your premiums may end up soaring through the roof. you may not be able to pick your doctor like the president said you were going to be able to or keep your doctor like he was saying. there's so much to sort through and it seems like a lot of americans aren't even sure exactly what's in it. what's going on now is the administration is spending $67 million of your taxpayer dollars so that people can figure out,
5:08 am
you know, read through the red tape and they're going to be going shopping for obamacare essentially and this is something a lot of people of calling a bloated bill. that's why people don't understand it. >> you mentioned the pages of it. when we first had this bill -- we've had a number of people come on the show and we had former new york attorney general, she brings a big pile of the bill. she's one of the few people that red the bill. now it's ballooned to 17,000 page with the extra regulations and changes involved in it so the next time she shows up we'll have to make sure she brings in a forklift. >> there's been an important philosophical change here. i wish someone would call obama on it. don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen but in his weekly address he described healthcare in the united states a right. so does this right come from the constitution? the bible? the curran? where does it come from?
5:09 am
it was invented by the president of the democratic party. that means you had an obligation to pay for it. when did this arise? >> i don't see it as an additional amendment to the constitution. it's great to have health insurance but the second it's a right then it's nonnegotiable. when you wind up in the mode, that's where the president is now. the opponent isn't wrong. they're evil. that's scary when he talks that way. >> it's so republicans seem insensitive or republicans want americans to be dying in the streets and act like it's something happening now. if you go to the emergency room because you need care you're not going to be turned away. that's not the way the healthcare system works today. >> and the money will be showing up in clinics that you go to. this is about trying to educate americans about obamacare. they tried to get members on board to hire them and pitch it to young kids. if you go to planned parenthood
5:10 am
offices you'll see pamphlet and literacy there. aids alabama incorporated. the united way and university of south florida is where your dollars will be going. >> great piece. >> a brilliant writer and great person too but she interviewed a guy who is a long time writer and long time leftist but also a civil liberatian and she asked why do they matter and why are they a big deal? he said it is a huge shift in power. the government ought to fear us and all of a sudden because the government has accumulated all this power using technology, we fear the government. >> this is something we talked about on the show before. it's the thomas jefferson phrase. it's a statement he stood by and i might be butchering it but his
5:11 am
belief was the american people should never fear their government. the government should always fear the american people and when that switch happens we should throw off the shackles of government and start anew, start a fresh. governor huckabee was picking up on this point yesterday and he had this to say about privacy. listen. >> privacy is really the heart of free speech. it's the heart of thought. it's the heart of everything. if we thought that our very innermost workings were going to be looked at by somebody else we would suppress them. what makes us unique as a culture, as a society, as a government, as a people is our ability to be free to express, sometimes to be ridiculous in the way we express. that's why i hate political correctness. i hate piecey speech because it suppresses our thought processes. >> it's not just the 4th amendment or against illegal searches and seizures that are unreasonable. it's the first amendment,
5:12 am
freedom of speech. the freedom of thought because you don't want to put something in an e-mail to your mother that you might feel on your innermost heart strings because you don't want somebody to read it and that affects your relationship with your mom and yourself and your spsyche. it's interesting. it's a big picture thought. >> it infur rates me when people say this is no big deal and we're going after rists. if you monitor terrorists that's the move you make. when you're following those individuals you identify as terrorists. that's what is leading to other arrests as a result of it. to capture e-mails and every phone call you make with a cell phone is recorded and cataloged and on file in a facility. how does that make you feel? it makes me mad to know every bit of dij cal communication you have is on file by the government. they say they can't search through them. are they that incompetent that
5:13 am
we can't find out if he was talking about pressure cookers. >> sounds like you don't trust the obama administration. you maybe working for al qaeda. well, more on that nsa bombshell, the agency broke the law more than 3,000 times. whatever happened to transparency. john roberts is hosting fox news sunday this week and he is on deck. >> remember this amazing pitch we showed you a couple of weeks ago. if you thought that was awesome -- >> how could you forget that -- >> wait until you see the new one we found, it might be the best pitch ever. >> whoa. >> i pulled something. good job! still running in the morning? yeah. getting your vegetables every day? when i can. [ bop ] [ male announcer ] could've had a v8. two full servings of vegetables for only 50 delicious calories.

it's a reality check. i had my reality check when i'd be sitting there with my friends who had their verizon phones and i'd be sitting there like "mine's still loading!" i couldn't get email. i couldn't stream movies. i couldn't upload any of our music. that's when i decided to switch. now that i'm on verizon, everything moves fast. with verizon, i have that reliability.

5:16 am
it's time that government stop the spying and the lying. the american people haven't been given a straight story from our
5:17 am
government about this right from the beginning. >> this is serious surveillance and spying on the american public. we need more judicial intervention before we allow the nsa to go in and seize information on americans. >> lawmakers from both sides of the aisle lashing out over new revelations about the nsa's surveillance program. >> an audit leaked to the washington post by edward snowden revealing the agency had nearly 3,000 violations in one year alone. >> is it time for the president to finally fulfill his promise of a government of transparency? john roberts is joining us now. nice to see you this morning. the president coming back from his vacation. this is probably not the debate he was hoping for as he was heading into the fall, right? >> good morning. the one thing that the president has going for him this week is that he is coming back early and he is going to be about the only person in town. so he'll have a bit of a chance to get his ducks together before the other members of congress
5:18 am

different things. for instance, don't drive while high. don't give, sell or shotgun weed to people under 21. don't use pot in public. they have really taken on that rule. when i was in seattle a few weeks ago, they were just walking down the street smoking pot right in front of you. also you could be cited if you're walking in public. we're probably going to give you a warning, we're not going to give you a ticket. >> listen to the dark side of the moon, that's the famous pink floyd album. is there anything more embarrassing than when cops try to be cool? i have to say the posture of people -- nobody wants to come out and just say what is obviously true which is it makes you stupid and it makes you passive and it's actually kind of depressing if you smoke it too much. everyone who smokes it knows that it's true.
6:12 am
you don't have to endorse the ludicrousness of "reefer madness" which is the obvious point, if you want to achieve something in this life, lay off the weed. why not just say that? >> they're marketing, they try to be cool by handing out doritos and they sold out in ten minutes. this isn't just their money, this is taxpayer dollars in that city going to educate folks at a reefer festival so that they can learn how to smoke weed in public more effectively. let us know what you think about that, friends@foxnews.com. figure out how your iphone works and good luck with that. is your child's education safe from obamacare? probably not, that's why one republican has introduced a bill to exempt schools from that hated law. and his father really can do it all. he just pulled off this sweet

next. >> the bill will exempt schools and universities from the impact of obamacare. obamacare doesn't work, it's full of unintended consequences and this is just one example of those consequences. i support delay of the bill, but i also understand, this is not a video game, it's real life. a lot of schools are going to be hurt if we don't exempt them from the law. >> so schools are usually dependent on part-time support staff, aren't they? you can think of all kinds of people in the day to day life of the school who are not full-time employees. some schools have actually let them go? >> yeah, some schools have permanent substitute teachers that work in various classrooms, teachers' aides, folks that work in the cafeteria, bus workers as well. this problem is not exclusive to schools. the fact that the bill artificially sets a full-time employee equivalent of 30 hours has big implications for the restaurant industry and the
6:18 am
like. but you have this very unique situation where the federal government is taxing schools to pay for this bill. i think it's not fair that schools would pay the burden of trying to make obamacare work and if we really care about kids, we need to try to fix it. and this effort to exempt schools is one way to do that. >> how do you think this would really affect schools if this goes into effect? i know you have to worry about teachers making this a good, positive place for kids. what would happen if this is enacted? >> where i'm from and also across the country, schools are strapped already. some say we're not spending enough on schools. with this enormous tax and in my school district they have estimated hundreds of thousands

of dollars on the -- it's going to hurt classroom instruction, it's going to make it more difficult for kids to make their grades. that's not right. that's not the way we ought to do it. and if we really care about kids, it's not fair to make obamacare work on the backs of the classroom. >> congressman luke messer, we really appreciate your explanation and you joining us this morning. angelina jolie shocked the world back in may when she announced she had a preventative double mastectomy. her doctor said it's a secret she simply couldn't keep. and does this offend you? >> i'm told this stuff can make our break your entire year. >> some parents say they're outraged by the jcpenney ad. some say it promotes bullying. what makes your family smile?

about yourself and you're going to have a great start to the school year. >> here's jcpenney's response. they have taken some heat over this. they say our intent was not to trivialize or promote bullying. at jcpenney, we're committed to carrying a broad range of styles and make a positive first impression. our markets meant to inspire kids to create and reveal their own style. let's all have school uniforms so you don't have to worry about one kid having the arizona jeans as they pointed out in this commercial. >> listen, there are a lot of schools that want to start with having the uniform. they think it's important that children, there is no competition, there is no bullying across the board. but children start to accessorize so there's other things they can add in.
6:27 am
if your kids are wearing uniforms, they're all wearing the same shoes and there's no bullying. each child really gets to show their creativity, their individually. >> i actual agree, i'm not for school uniforms too. i think it shows an express sif artistic ability and a child's interesting tastes and i think that that's important for kids. so in promoting in a good way, feel good about yourself, get dressed in the morning, put something on that you feel good about is a good thing for kids and for parents. >> maybe people who shop at jcpenney will know why their stock is dropping and no one is shopping at jcpenney for a child. what an unforgettable wedding day. a "duck dynasty" star crashes a wedding in camo.
